Yan Xiaojun

Yan Xiaojun is a Ph.D. candidate in the Government Department at Harvard University.  He studies comparative politics with Professor Elizabeth J. Perry.  Designed as an interdisciplinary project that combines political science and sociology, his dissertation explores the dynamic connection and interaction between economic liberalization and political development in contemporary China. His research interests include comparative politics, East Asian politics, international relations of the East Asian region and research methods.  Recipient of a Harvard University Certificate of Distinction in Teaching (2007),  Xiaojun has independently taught or served as a Teaching Fellow in a number of undergraduate courses at Harvard, covering topics in Comparative Politics, American Politics, International Relations and China Studies.  He won a national award as “Outstanding Chinese Overseas Student” from the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2004.
