Hail and well met, worthy traveller! My name is Christopher Night, and this is my webpage! You can navigate my page using the Navigation Bar. I welcome feedback!
This webpage is updated irregularly. If you would like to receive emails of updates when they happen, enter your email address below:
I have added a time-lapse video of my potted plant resurrecting. You can find it on the Pictures page under Photo Galleries.
The reason I haven't updated in over two years is that mostly I'm happy with the way the webpage is. But it would be nice to add a little bit every now and then, so I'm going to try to update with a little something every month or so. There's a form at the top of the Front Page that lets you sign up for email notifications of updates.
Updates? Gee, there's not much has changed recently. Let's see... anything? Oh, yeah. I guess I did change my name. So I've changed my account name to reflect my real-life name. I had to change the URL of my webpage. Since I had to move it anyway, I took the opportunity to change servers, from the CfA server to Harvard's FAS server, where I also have an account. I've updated my email address too. I think I transferred everything over okay, but if you find any missing links, please let me know.
Oh, and since I'm no longer on a Smithsonian Institute server, I'm no longer bound by Smithsonian Directive 931, restricting the use of computer systems. SD 931 forbade me from expressing a political opinion; while I understand why it's implemented for government organizations, I think it is detrimental to the free exchange of ideas and so should not be implemented in academic institutions like the Smithsonian. So I disagreed with it but I respected it. Now that I am free of it, I will add my photo gallery from 17 May 2004.
My now world-famous greeting line Hail and well met, worthy traveller!
has turned up elsewhere online. Behold the second post of this Futurama message board thread and be awed at the influence I have over the internet. Okay, so I don't know for sure that SlackJawedMoron got it from me, but I definitely said it first.
Also, I finally got around to writing up another style sheet, User Friendly. Check it out if your browser was made this century.
I got a HugeURL! You can now link to my homepage with the following URL:

No update, but I wanted to share something. I was looking through the web access logs for the CfA server, and decided to look at how many times my files were accessed. This listing is for the week of 14-21 Mar 2004, and includes all files which got more than 20 hits:

Nothing too surprising for the most part. The CSS files are requested with every page, so of course their hit counts are high. But look at the first entry. The dopey picture of me breakdancing received twice as many hits as any other content document on my site. Furthermore, I checked the previous logs, and it's been getting about 300 hits a week since the beginning of February. Somebody must really like that picture.
