I am a PhD candidate in the Economics track of the Health Policy PhD program at Harvard University.  My dissertation research focuses on the estimation of causal effects of health shocks on household consumption, assets and debt. For details on this work, click here.

My primary research interests are topics in Health Economics, Development and Labor Economics. The areas I am currently working on include the effects of health on household consumption and savings decisions, health insurance in developing countries, and physician labor markets.  In addition to my academic work in the PhD program, I have also been consulting to the World Bank and Health Ministries in Kosovo, Egypt and India on health insurance related issues. One particularly interesting project that I have been working with the World Bank on is the development of a large health insurance experiment in India.

I received my undergraduate degree in medicine (MBBS) from Grant Medical College, Mumbai (Bombay), in 1998. Prior to the starting the PhD program, I also received two Masters Degrees from the Harvard School of Public Health (MPH '00 and SM '04), focusing on international health policy and economics.
