St JeromeSAINT JEROME SOCIETY

THE SAINT JEROME SOCIETY is a fellowship of Catholic young adults based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, near Porter Square.  Our primary activites are Eucharistic Adoration and prayer. We take joy in learning and praying together and strengthening one another in faith, hope, and charity.

Listed below, you'll find details for Monday night scripture study (currently on summer break) and Friday night Eucharistic Adoration.

In addition to our regular meetings, we've organized several extraordinary retreats, and members have joined in the March for Life each year, as well as a pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2005.  More recently, a few of us attended the Eucharistic Congress held in Boston's North End in March, 2008. These special times have been great for spiritual growth and building friendships.

Boston is a great place to be a Catholic young adult! There are tons of great things going on, and you can find many by following the links below to local groups.  The Boston Catholic Men's and Women's Conferences were great, and we have friends going on pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Australia.

SCRIPTURE STUDY--Monday nights BUT currently on summer vacation. See Somerville Catholic Young Adults, St. Clement's Young Adults or the St. Paul's group for Graduate Students and Young Professionals for similar scripture meetings that are continuing during the summer.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION--Friday nights, 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at St. Peter Parish, 100 Concord Ave., Cambridge, MA.  This time of silent prayer and reflection closes with evening prayer at 7:45 p.m. We go out to dinner afterwards, so there's time for fellowship, too.  We can't have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament as often as in the past, but we are blessed to still have this time to pray together and visit with Christ in the Eucharist.  For updates by email, join our Yahoo group.  St. Peter's is about a 15 minute walk from Harvard Square (red line on the T). Also, parking is available behind the church or across the street.

I know people who've participated in SJS activities have benefitted greatly from other groups and orders--Jesuits, Institute of the Incarnate Word, Carmelites, Dominicans, Opus Dei, Regnum Christi, and events at nearby retreat houses--but I don't always have a good URL to include. Feel free to contact me with any suggestions!

SJS in Tokyo, Japan?! Your friendly webmaster is relocating and would love to know of potential friends in Tokyo. Also, if you've always wanted to do a webpage for a group like this--as a volunteer, of course--this could be your chance for glory.
