TEACHING

I taught evolutionary biology, ecology and genetics at the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) intially as a Teaching Assistant and then as an Assistant Instructor (see below). Currently I am a full-time post-doctoral research fellow and do not teach. However, I do enjoy teaching and the interaction it provides with young talented students. So I am eagerly looking forward to teaching biology once again when I occupy a faculty position that involves teaching in the classrooms, labs and, more importantly, in the field where a crucial aspect of biology should be taught: that dealing with organisms in their natural habitats.

Assistant Instructor (UT Austin, Fall 2005–Spring 2006)

BIO 301E: Problems in Modern Biology, for Plan II students. One semester (Professor: Franklin Bronson). Awarded Roger Worthington Fellowship by UT Austin for teaching this class.

Teaching assistant (UT Austin, Fall 2002 - Spring 2005)

BIO 301M: Ecology, Evolution and Society. Three semesters (Professor: Michael Singer). Nominated in 2004 for the annual competition for Outstanding Graduate Student Employee (Best TA).

BIO 325: Genetics. One semester (Teacher: Dr. Beverly Finclea).

BIO 213: Ecology and Diversity. Two semesters (Teachers: Dr. Laura Gonzalez and Dr. Ramakrishnan).
