Personal

My wife Robin and I are resident tutors at Pforzheimer House, Harvard College. Robin runs the pre-law program and I oversee the fellowships program and tutor students in economics and statistics.

Prior to entering graduate school I was a US Army officer. I graduated from West Point in 2001 and spent five years in the Armor Branch. I was a tank platoon leader in the 1st Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment in Friedberg, Germany (which was also Elvis's post when he was in the Army). After two years in Friedberg and 15 months in Iraq, I moved to Grafenwoehr, Germany, where I managed goverment service contracts for another year before leaving the Army in June 2006.

My military awards include the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal (with 1 oak leaf cluster), the Army Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Basic Parachutist Badge (Airborne School) and the Combat Action Badge.
