Activities

  1. Research Science Institute - Tutor at the 2008 RSI. I am a TA who helps students complete their mentorships at laboratories in the Boston area.
  2. Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Summer Internship Program (Summer 2007) - an 8-week program run by the Penn Genomics Institute. Through it, I worked with Dr. Li-San Wang researching microarray SVD analysis and distance-based phylogeny reconstruction.

  3. Penn Genome Frontiers Institute Student Award - An award given to two seniors at Penn for academic excellence and genomics research.
  4. Biochemistry Program Chair's Award and Helix Prize (2008) - Awards for outstanding academic and research performance.
  5. Rose Award (2008) - In recognition of my research with Dr. Johnson and Dr. Wang about G-Quadruplexes.
  6. Dean's Scholar (2006) - An award given to nine undergraduates in the College of Arts and Science at Penn each year.
  7. Roy and Diana Vagelos Science Challenge Award (2006-2008) - A scholarship given to five students submatriuclating into Chemistry or Physics Master's degrees at Penn.
  8. Vagelos Scholar (2004-2008)- An honors biochemistry program based on the belief in a well-rounded background for biological research.
  9. University Scholars (2005-2008) - A program that provides money to students at Penn to undertake extensive research projects. Through them, I was able to raise money in order to install 92 computers in Cameroon and study their impact.
