I am a 4th-year graduate student at the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology under the supervision of Prof. Richard Wrangham.
For my thesis research I will be studying the energetics of male chimpanzee mating effort in relation to rank. I will carry out my work in the Kanyawara area of Kibale National Park, Uganda. The Kibale Chimpanzee Project, based at Kanyawara, was established in 1987 by Richard Wrangham and since then observations on the apes have been continous.
My thesis project will build on previous work on chimpanzee male behavioural ecology at Kanyawara and will expand our understanding of the costs of dominance in this species.
