Geoclub organizes many events to promote jolly happy warm feelings in all of its members. Some charming and very effective examples may be found below. Every spring, at the end of regular classes, Geoclub organizes a BBQ. Meat and beer is the combination of choice, as you can't really go wrong with it. Everyone is invited, students, faculty, staff, spouses, kids, dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. (see Photos) During the spring semester Geoclub organizes a seminar day during which members from different groups in EPS present their work. This is pretty informal and always good fun. Don't miss it as there is usually very good food. Movie Nights are held during beer and pizza on Friday's a few times a semester. In the past we have watched "The Core", "The Day After Tomorrow" and "TRON".Heckling is strongly encouraged! Geoclub now brews it's own beer for special occasions such as e.g. BBQ! Woohoo! (21+ only) Saint Barbara, the patron saint of mining and geology is honoured on her own day in December. An evening party with dinner and entertainment provided by the students themselves, usually does the trick. Local and further field trips in the past have been to the Monadnock Region (NH) and a week of sailing off of San Diego (CA). For further information see the appropriate website. |
