My husband and I became the proud owners of a C&C Redwing in need of some TLC in the summer of 2008 (on our honeymoon!)

Only about 170 of these sloop-design racers were ever made and they were some of the last Hinterhoeller boats ever produced. We are working to restore her a little at a time on our own - which has been tuns of fun and given us a chance to personalize the details.

Since there had been some water leakage while she was on the hard, we decided to make completely new cushions - foam and all! As this was my first sewing adventure of this sort, I would like to suggest a few tips for anyone else taking this sort of thing on:

1) an electric carving knife is the best way to cut foam

2) invest in piping for the edges, otherwise your cushions will morph in shape after many uses

3) You don't need to buy a special sewing maching or special piping foot - a zipper foot on a standard machine works beautifully!
