Welcome!  I am a lecturer on history at Harvard University in the History and African & African-American Studies Departments.

I will be formally receiving my doctoral degree in December of 2009 from the Department of History at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

I am an African historian by training. My research focuses primarily on legal and political history in colonial and post-colonial Cameroon. I have traveled extensively in West and East Africa and have collaborated with African universities in Mozambique and Cameroon, as well as with non-governmental organizations and multilateral institutions on issues of environmental and family law in Africa.

I am working on a manuscript of my dissertation, entitled
“Legal Revolutions and Evolutions: Law, Chiefs, and Colonial Order in Cameroon, 1914-1955.”  My second book project (already in progress) will examine legal authority and political order in post-colonial Cameroon.
