Christopher Leighton is a Ph.D. candidate in History and East Asian Languages at Harvard University completing a dissertation on the social and cultural history of Chinese capitalism in June 2009. His research interests are in modern Chinese history and deal with the social dimensions of political change. He has conducted academic fieldwork throughout China, and holds a B.A. and M.A. in Asian studies.
