Cartoon: The Public Reacts to Sleaze

The Public Reacts to Sleaze. Japanese voters, the Diet building in the distance, react to politicians gearing up for the 1990 Lower House race. The voters adopt the poses of the three famous monkeys of Nikko. "See no evil" says "I won't give money." "Speak no evil," covering her mouth, says, "I won't help them." "Hear no evil" says, "I don't want to be a politician." From right, the politicians are "The Slippery One," "Easy Words, but No Action," and "Sleaze."
